Tai-Chieh (Judy) Chou is doing her master in biomedical technology under Faculty of medicine with University of Calgary and plans to graduate in 2010.She is currently working for Afexa Life Science Inc as the scientific affair coordinator. She had graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science Honors with high distinction in June 2009. She specialized in pharmaceutical chemistry under the Faculty of Pharmacy.
Judy loves learning aspects of various science fields with strong passion in health and nutrition. She was awarded to a scholarship to work on a molecular biology project for G- protein coupled receptor as a summer student under faculty of pharmacy in University of Toronto. She helped synthesize recombinant DNA for quantitative imaging using Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer technique. The PhD student she assisted with utilized the data to publish a paper. In her fourth year of university, she took up a project in the field of health economics. She had learned and applied Stastical Analysis Software (SAS) to perform utility analysis on data collected from prostate cancer patients who had underwent androgen deprivation therapy. In addition to her past research experience, Judy had also worked in the pharmaceutical industry for a year as a co-op student. She worked in full research and development department at Apotex based in Toronto, a generic drug company.
Judy is originally from a small town in Taiwan. Other than English, she can also speak Mandarin, Cantonese, and Taiwanese. She took up Japanese and Spanish and would love to find someone to practice with. On her spare time, Judy loves to read novels and she is learning how to play golf without hitting the balls into water or bushes. Judy also enjoys to travel and to experience different cultures since she believe in traveling is the best to learn new ideas. Since biotechnology is a global industry, Judy would love to use that opportunity to work and travel in different countries.
